Who won, who lost, on Saturday?

    23rd October 2007

No, not the elections — the Big Easy Rollergirls!

There are four teams this year, which doubles the entertainment.

The Marigny Antoinettes defeated the Crescent Wenches, and the StoryVillains beat the Confederacy of Punches.

Not that the scores really matter. Watching the Big Easy Rollergirls skate is more about … well … watching the Big Easy Rollergirls. It’s an awesome phenomenon, and it’s fabulous entertainment. I’m particularly thrilled watching the girl team bondage. It’s like one great big happy family — with all of the attendant sibling rivalry, smack talk, and gossip.

I’m not really a T&A guy, but I do have my favorites on the T&A team. It’s difficult to choose favorites when there are so many to choose from, and among the veteran skaters are some exciting newcomers this year.

Watch Squirtalicious, who’s as fast as veteran Sophie Nuke ‘Em when they’re wearing their jammer panties.

Raising the level of play (but I hope not the number of injuries), Louise Ze Animal and F.N. Trouble look as wily and dangerous out on the rink as does veteran Cheap Thrill, who’s back with a few screws under her belt following last season’s injury.

It’d be tough to beat Pontchartrain BeAtch for simple grace and charm off the rink, but Little MaSCARa may have been overlooked in the last Best of the Big Easy poll. Newbies Lush Fatale and Jet Lisa might be future contenders.

Big Sleasy and Blaze Scar scored some points for courage, wearing the jammer panty for their team in their first bout skating against veterans.

I’m sure I’m missing a lot of other great new talent, but it was just the first bout of the season.

Hands down, veteran Marquis de Squad’s leggy elegance on a pair of skates wins her the title again for most likely to perform a biellmann spin while recovering from being pushed out of bounds.

Last but not least, Trixie La Femme turned the clock past thirty on Saturday — that’s a good thing — and there’s still no one who can compete with her ability to melt through a pack like butter. Off the rink, Trix has the same ability to melt like butter to anyone’s heart. So she’s the real winner on Saturday.

Oh … there was an election on Saturday. All I can say is, congratulations Bobby Jindal. Whether it was you, Boasso, Georges, or Cambell, we needed a change. You have a lot to prove, including whether your level of compassion equals your reputation for brains.

Election maps and analysis will most likely be forthcoming in future PGR posts.

Lest I forget to do so in a future post, I should mention in passing here that I believe I saw Marlon Boulet on K-Ville last night inappropriately eating a beignet out of a paper sack while walking down the street in an overdone scene with him talking up how important it is for him to go to church. Then, SWAT officers stormed a church, interrupting a mass with assault weapons to find a murdered priest being hidden under a drop cloth at the altar. Need I say more? I turned the crap off to fold laundry.
