The 1st Amendment is irrelevant in the case of Tracie Washington
24th July 2009
The 1st Amendment says the the government shall not abridge the freedom of speech of citizens or the press.
It protects Tracie Washington’s right to express her own views, or to propagate her opinions through various media.
It doesn’t say Tracie Washington has the right to publish other people’s communications which they thought were confidential, and never intended as free speech acts.
